1992 MUSTANG LX CONVERTIBLE. RUST FREE TEXAS CAR!! “Fox body” Mustangs seem to have been used up, rusted, and sent to the crusher.  But if you can find a good rust-free example, they are a great starting point to build a great driving and great handling car.  That’s what I did with this one.  When I bought this Mustang (a ’92 “Summer Edition”) in 2011, the mileage was around 21,000.  (It is now showing 26,958, although it will have a few more on it by the time you buy it because I drive the car.)  It was owned by a little old lady (not kidding!) who traded it in because it messed up her hair when the top was down.  I traced back the ownership further to a local guy who bought it from, yes, another little old lady!!  Being a little old lady’s former car, it has its share of nicks and scratches.  No evidence of any body damage or rust that I can find. To me, it was a great place to start to build a car that would allow me to fix everything that Ford scrimped on.  These cars, especially the convertibles, suffered badly from body flex.  I fixed all of that with the ladder-type subframe connectors (see photos) that are bolted and welded and I added the three-point strut tower brace.  All that made this an entirely different car!
