In 1951 the Hudson Motor Company introduced the Hudson Hornet, and it was met with immediate enthusiasm and success. The “step-down” semi frame-in-body design produced a car with a much lower center of gravity than most any other American car of the time. Combined with the large displacement 6 cylinder engine (308 cubic inches), the Hornet swept the NASCAR national championships 3 years running. I have been fortunate to be the caretaker of this spectacular Hudson Club Coupe for the past 6 years, but now it is time to move on to other classics still unfulfilled on my bucket list. The Hornet was the most expensive model in the Hudson lineup, and, short of the convertible, the Club Coupe was the most expensive Hornet option (and today remains the most rare and most desirable closed body model).
