36 Auburn Boat tail Speedster-One Owner

“One Of A Kind“

This car has a Florida title in my name and is titled as a 1981 Auburn. The reason for selling is I am 81 years old and have health problems, so my baby of 40 years has to go. I just hope whoever buys it will enjoy it as much as I have over the years. This is a sad day for me! Serious buyers only. All reasonable offers will be considered. I believe I have priced it reasonably compared to other Auburns out there. This Auburn was built in California by “House of Old Cars” to replicate the real Auburn as closely as possible by using refurbished parts from the 30’s such as the headlights, grill, original horns (that work), bumpers, taillights (that light up STOP when applied), door handles, steering wheel, wooden dash and of course a floor shift instead of a column for the original look which can all be seen in the photos. It is also approximately 18 feet long. You should measure your garage first before thinking of buying this Auburn. It will also hold 2 full size adults in the rear seat. The odometer reads in Kilometers and Miles. The actual mileage is approximately 14,700 miles converted from 26,400 kilometers that is on the odometer. This company was building replica Auburns and used this Auburn to show their potential buyers. I purchased it from them with the MSO in 1981,40 years ago, being the first owner of this vehicle. The paint is a 1980 GM – 2-toneblue, base coat, with a clear coat and an easy match if ever needed. It still looks good enough to win trophies, which it has collected a few of over the years. The cloth soft top is made with the best material out there. It is dark blue to match the fenders with tan inside to match the leather interior. It’s only been used twice. It also has removable oval beveled glass windows and the boot, that matches the interior, for when the top is down, and a full tan tonneau cover. Additionally, it has a newer stereo system w/cd that was installed 2 years ago. There are side windows that fit in the top of the door. It also has the side vent-wing windows that many replicas are missing. The car was built using a heavy duty 1970 T-Bird modified frame and suspension with 15 inch spoke classic wheels that are in fair condition. The tires are in great shape. The car has the T-Bird power front disc and back drum brakes that stop on a dime, power steering, and A/C. The air works when its charged but has a slow leak. I charged it a few times over the years but never used it since I keep the top down. The charge will only last about 6 months. When built the engine was a new Chrysler 360 cu short block with lots of power that purrs with no strange noises or smoke and a smooth shifting 3 speed torque flite transmission and posi rear end. This car has never over heated, even in the hottest Florida weather. When it sits for any length of time the transmission will drip from the pan gasket. It’s an easy fix if you can find someone who won’t rip you off. I just want to be up front about this. Other than what is mentioned, the car runs like a top. I recommend you view this Auburn to really appreciate it and see for yourself the detail that went into the build before making any offers. It’s a must see! and one of a kind! So many people, including auto dealers, believe it’s the real thing and stare at it for the longest time. So many memories over the years. All the photos are recent.
